Kim: Well, well! It turns out it wasn't just Eva Marie who turned up at the 2019 ESPYS! We also got to see the Raw Women's Champion, Becky Lynch, social media correspondent Cathy Kelley, and the CBO of WWE, Stephanie McMahon. When I first looked at Cathy's dress, I was wondering how it even worked, until I saw a closer shot. Turns out, there's some nude sheer material between the cut-out that goes all the way down her right arm, keeping everything together. I adore the mix of long sleeve/sheer sleeve, and super high slit/full length gown. Stephanie kept things fierce, yet still professional in this bold red jumpsuit. The colour looks so nice on her, and I love how for accessories, along with a unique necklace and bracelet, she always wears a Connor's Cur bracelet or two. Becky's dress is hands down my favourite. Like Cathy (And Eva's), the material is so eye catching. I'm usually not a huge fan of one shoulder dresses, but the material alone is enough for me to fall in love - it looks like it was soaked in sparkles. She looks so elegant and sophisticated.
Brie: I just had to add in a couple of thoughts here :)..Hi! Yes, it’s me, Brie..I still exist! Life has been impossible lately but I am going to try my best to keep the site going. I have a bunch of post ideas…and no time to put them together. Ugh. My love to Kim for jumping in! Which brings me to some thoughts on this year’s ESPY looks: I’m a little bored with black, especially for summer red carpets, but my ennui was swept away by the unique cut and beautifully done illusion panel of Cathy’s gown! It managed to be dramatic and classic at the same time. The black tone worked in her favor by highlighting the standout silhouette and she wisely let that be the major statement. Her simple ankle strap heels were the perfect accompaniment, along with her sleek ,simple high bun – like, yaaaaassss, girl! I am so here for the up-do! I have wanted one in a number of Cathy’s looks so I am bouncing up and down over this. A+ from top to bottom! Equally stellar is Becky’s one-shoulder sequined gown! I’m gathering my jaw up off the desk honestly. The strong shoulder design gives the piece a super-trendy 80’s vibe, the exposed shoulder makes it subtly sexy and the white sequins are gorgeous, eye-catching and summer-appropriate. Her sideswept hair looks ahhmazing - the waves! The volume! I’m so jelly rn. And it makes her shoulder-brushing white crystal earrings stand out beautifully…which is perfect because they make a stunning accompaniment to her gown. Their bold but simple chic ties the look together in precisely the right way. A matching clutch completed her fabulous look. I’m over here wishing Becks would do something like this for the Hall Of Fame – it would make a good run at the top 3 for sure! (Speaking of which, yes, I still intend to try to get that post up (feeling so sheepish I could sink through the floor. It’s a massive post though and my free time has been somewhere south of zilch). Stephanie’s red jumpsuit is less formal than the two sequined pieces, but this brilliant red looks incredible on her and adds enough punch to make this choice appropriate for a less formal award show like the ESPYs. Her black YSL Tributes complete the look and work nicely, though I confess I might have been tempted to go for a fancier sandal to up the formality just a tad (these Sophia Webster’s would have done the trick). A selection of bead and natural stone jewels accented Stephanie’s look. Again, I might have gone for something a touch more formal, but I love how unusual her pendant is – the unexpectedness of the mixed jewels adds an intriguing twist of meaning, while highlighting her décolleté, pulling the look together so nicely that it succeeds marvelously.

The fashion photoshoot is mostly no longer a thing among the Lady Superstars (and I will fight that til time’s end! :)), but there were just enough themed ‘shoots for us to scrounge up some fabulous ones for this year’s Silver Snap Awards (phew :)). What did we love at Diva-Fierce? (And, all-importantly, ..why did we love said ‘shoots):
Spring brought us a look at Katarina’s style for her return to Impact. This simple, sexy biker-chick look takes me back the accessible, straightforward attitude of her days as Katie Lea Burchill in WWE. The leather vest paired with black skinny denim and knee-high boots appears to be very much in Katarina’s comfort zone. I love how she threw in a sporty touch with her baseball cap; it’s a great way to update this look! We saw her push the envelope in a lot of fun ways as Winter, exploring gothic fashion. I’d love to see her use that same creativity as she evolves her street style.
Gail was looking as gorgeous as ever as she spent time with husband Robert Irvine. The magnificent plum hue makes this dress an immediate standout, and the cutaway at the bust only heightens the effect. I absolutely love this shade on Gail! Although she chose it for spring, it would be equally at home now, paired with other jewel tones – teal or gold spring to mind! Lana was out and about in April wearing a fierce combination of a black crop top and red latex pencil skirt. I love the way the red and latex take this simple pairing and kick it into overdrive! The latex makes a major statement and Lana carries it off flawlessly. If shining plastic seems a little of your wheelhouse (with you!), try a less bold textural contrast: suede, velvet, corduroy, or a floral print. Pro tip: the ctop isn’t crucial to making this work – any slim fitting top will do nicely. Lana added a gold pendant and completed the look with black ankle strap sandals that have my 100% approval. She literally shone at the ACM Awards in a metallic gold gown by Anya Leisnick! It definitely did not follow the legs or décolleté rule, as it combined an on-trend thigh-high slit with a daring plunge neckline. This could easily get over-the-top, but Lana wisely kept the rest of the styling simple – I love love her stud earrings and tiny pendant! – and that, along with the single, cohesive fabric, allows this look to work. Her dark eyed+flushed cheek make-up look is one of my faves; that classic natural-kicked-up-a-notch vibe always looks amazing! Lana reprised the silhouette in a white midi dress, paired with strappy gold sandals and her shorter hair. The slightly less extreme neckline is more appropriate for day wear and brings a fresh sophistication to this rendition. I love how her black nails add punch to this much more pared-down look. Lana absolutely SLAAAYS her Team Russia set, in which she pairs a DIY-halter soccer shirt with denim shorts. I think it’s her hair style that really takes these snaps into high gear – this 80’s-esque voluminous side part looks divine in her, both sensual and fierce! Her palest peach lip shade is the perfect accompaniment, giving a glacial sharpness to her look that gives high drama to her look. Since its Lana, there must be a bit of shine (a girl after my own heart :) <3), so she’s added a slim braided belt and a pair of slim chains at her neck. Her black choker coordinates with her strappy sandal-booties which, although I would have preferred if she had chosen one shade or the other of fishnet sock, there is no denying are incroyable. She shows restraint in her poses, not pushing them too hard, and the result is spectacular: a sexy, mysterious vibe with an athletic undertone that, in aggregate, has a massive visual impact akin to being on the receiving end of a goal kick.
Are you ready to be your favorite Lady Superstar? Bringin’ back a former fave feature for a little inspo from Diva-Fierce on how to be her for Halloween!
Want to metamorphosize into Naomi? Grab your neon-est of neon workout wear. Her top colors are bright pink, glowing orange and highlighter lime, but we’ve seen her rock some turquoise and multi-hued looks as well. Finish with bright, fab sneakers and def do not forget about the beauty side of things! Sparkling neon nails and totally fierce eyeshadow are absolute musts! Lastly, you can’t possibly be Naomi without unlocking your own mystical GLOW, so set it free, babes! In yet another wrestling-themed photoshoot, several Lady Superstars dressed up as their favorite ECW wrestlers. This kind of theme has been a favorite of WWE, going all the way back to 2013 when Natalya won our Silver Snaps Award with her portrayal of Sean Michaels. I loved this idea much better back then when it was rarer, but I’ll take it.
Track pants and an ECW tee: Tommy Dreamer’s trademark ring gear was made for Becky! She looks very much at home in this type of styling, and stays true to Dreamer’s choices, all the way up to his taped hands. She replicates his gritty stare perfectly and the background lighting helps to add interest to these snaps, which makes them particularly appealing. Lana replicated The Sandman’s signature look of a personalized tank and denim (sometimes track pants). Her choice to go with all-black plays well against the barbed wire and chain link background, as well as the red and blue lighting that somehow creates a grimy atmosphere. She utilizes his trademark prop – a kendo stick – in her poses to good effect. Her work here is stellar, as usual…though I admit to being quite distracted by her gorgeous messy braid! We saw Lana working the short hair with this street look and I like the way the sharp, edgy cut acts as a counterpoint to the easy movement of her long cardi. She rocked the rainbow trend with a cropped top that made for a fun proportion-play when paired with her high-waisted jeans. Even though there are a number of 80’s vibes in this look –including her white pointed booties -, it feels like a very modern moment. While sweater-ensembles can often feel very laidback, the bootie silhouette and her hair combine to give this one polish and trendy attitude. She amped that vibe up with her next outfit, a sporty striped knit sheath dress, paired with white sneakers. A red lip provided the exclamation point for this look. This styling is so easy to just throw on an yet, it looks completely pulled together. So, basically your perfect summer outfit. Toss a bomber or military jacket over your shoulders and wear now.
Laurel (aka Chelsea Green) was looking fierce and fearless in this crimson snake-print workout set. Her dark hair complements the mood of these piece perfectly and the high pony is super-cute! Anyone else getting Rep-era Taylor Swift vibes? I can def see a character like that working for her – a little psycho, a little rebel, a little fashion queen. Yep, yep. |
