As promised, a closer look at Steph's outfit is at the far right. This pic really shows off how well it's put together!
I'm completely loving this outfit from Mandy as well! She pairs a white cropped turtleneck with blue jeans, gives it a touch of flash with her Hermes belt and then makes it totally winter appropriate with her faux fur vest. The lightness of this still-wintry color palette, as well as the casual glamour of the styling makes it an instant hit with me! Her make-up is soft and natural and creates a girl-next-door vibe and her high ponytail is super-cute! That's one of my favorite placements for a pony - it's polished, fun and sp pretty! Michelle may not be wrestling any more, but she's clearly kept abreast of fashion trends in a way that would be totally LayCool-approved! She pairs black leggings, which were a fave of hers throughout that era with a slouchy olive sweater, draped off of one shoulder for a sexy vibe. She added an of-the-moment choker to keep the look trendy and finished it with her Louis Vuitton Seduction boots that took the Divas' Fashion Universe by storm back in 2010 when she debuted them. They're proof now that a classic never goes out of style and the zippered details (which allow the boots to switch betwen ankle, knee and OTK height) add a distinctive edgy fierceness to this casually trendy look. The only thing on my wish list is that Michelle ease up on the braids a tad; they're pretty, but in this case look the tiniest bit harsh ..and she's been doing variations of them almost nonstop since April. Maria was also feeling the casual feels in this October snap, where she paired a simple black tee with gray distressed denim. I'm a fan of the unique color choice of her jeans; it makes a fun change-up! She layered a multi-striped shirt over tee for warmth and an unusual way to play with both color and proportion (love that!) and then topped the look with a black leather biker jacket. Finally, she added a big pop of color with red ankle boots! The whole theory of this outfit completely works for me. In practice, I might have leaned toward a solid red, red stripe or red plaid shirt to infuse the color throughout the outfit. But the basic principles work perfectly. (And PS, you could mellow out the drama a touch by going with black boots, if you wanted to create the look without the boldness of red footwear.)

September saw a whole range of great fashion looks sail across our consciousness - everything from fancy sequins to chill fringe.
Fringe was the main attraction in this outfit of Noelle's an it completely rocks! Imagine all the movement it creates at this super-long length! Way fun, right? I'm not generally a fan of tie-dye, but the bold, straightforward striped pattern of this piece is really eye-catching and pretty, especially in this combination of cobalt and white. Cut-off denim shorts provided the bottom half of her cool-as-a-cucumber look, while black retro sneakers finished it off. Even though the pairing is quite basic, her stand-out top give this look serious punch and it looks fab! Noelle channels Charlotte in her next outfit, a mockneck crop top paired with a pencil skirt and topped with a biker jacket. It's a simple and trendy match-up that works just as well for her as it does for the Raw champ. Char would finish this with pumps or sandals, but I'm betting Noelle put her own spin on the footwear...sneakers, perhaps? ;) Michelle's daughter decided to play fashion photographer and the blonde beauty complied, striking a pose for us all to admire. This look definitely showcases Michelle's pre -or -post-Laycool style: the All-American girl showed her love for camo, but the glamorous Michi McFlawless? Not so much. Michelle shorted the midi-lengthe piece DIY-style via a knot at the hemline and ramped up the military style with lace-up boots. A knotted white sweatshirt at her waist gave the look a grunge twist, while a long gold pendant provided the only hint of shine. She also played with a concept that becoming a major thing lately: elevating this causal dress with her hairstyle, an intricate braid. She's been favoring this kind of style lately and it works wonderfully with this look. Eva worked the same idea with this look, but paired her self-wrapped top knot with a distressed denim instead of a dress. The fancier hair works just as well with pants! I love her decision to do this slinky bodysuit in olive - the color looks amazing on her! And her choker - in addition to being bang on-trend - works symbiotically with her hair style to make this look come off more polished than your standard slim-top-and-skinny-jeans pairing. Her high top sneaker finish things off with a casual vibe. Barbie gave us another sterling example of her flair for laidback fierceness as she paired this high-necked sleeveless halter top with gray denim shorts. The coup de grace of this ensemble, though, is her OTK boots. They really put the exclamation point on the combo. She adds an extra shot of attitude with her chain-handled bag. From fierceness, we head straight into boho: Renee paired this Free People dress with OTK boots, showing why the super-high style has become as fashionista-staple: they literally go with EVERYTHING. And they swing from genre to genre without missing a bit. I love the edge they add to this delicate dress. I also love Renee's addition of a pork-pie hat; it gives a playful twist to the look that reinforces the free-spirited vibe. Fall always lends itself to (faux) fur. The look is luxurious...and warm! Depending on the style, pieces can bring a super chic feel, a rock n' roll attitude or a bohemian twist into an ensemble. Rock n' roll attitude with a whole lot of fierce is the closest description for the way Michelle did fur. She used the fabric in several 'shoots throughout her WWE career, all of them memorable! This version, from the days of her initial heel turn, paired a vest with leather leggings and studded almost-OTK boots. While the Flawless One added a sleeveless leather crop top beneath her fur, the current weather conditions and public exposure laws suggest a slight metamorphosis is in order if we're going to steal Michelle's style. I love the idea of burgundy with all this black, but Michi studiously avoided it (if I recall correctly, she said she felt like an apple in red :)), but I can totally imagine her reaching for this blue curve-hugging sweater to pop underneath. If you own a deep emerald slim sweater, definitely consider that too. Alternatively, navy would be a chic option. Add slim or skinny black jeans on the bottom (or leather leggings or tuxedo-stripe ponte pants) and then top the whole thing with your favorite faux fur vest. "But, Brie...I don't have a faux fur vest! Or any fur vest actually..." Don't panic! You can get a similar look by loosely wrapping a scarf around your neck. The scarf gives you some heat-control options as well...cotton or silk will be cooler, cashmere or wool will almost rival the fur. Finish the look with leather boots: Michelle wouldn't be caught dead without her heels (unless she's working out ;)), but flat OTKs up the comfort factor and add a nice casual vibe to the styling. Naturally, you'll need to finish this ensemble flawlessly: with a bold cuff, Michelle favorite choice in accessories. If you have something with studs or crystals, don't shy away from a touch of glam; the LayCool ladies would approve! Alternatively, layer a few narrower bangles to achieve the idea of a bold piece. Happy styling!
It’s been a very magazine-kind of summer for all the WWE ladies…and former WWE ladies are getting in on the act as well. Barbie posted a few pics from her interview and spread with German lifestyle magazine Ajoure Men. One thing that struck me is the slight differences in styling between a European publication and an American one (this is noticeable when looking at Euro fashion bloggers like Romania’s Fabulous Muses too). While lace seems to be as huge a deal there as here, there are a lot more sequins involved than we’ve been seeing lately. Her first dress incorporates them –in a burgundy shade- in the skirt, along with a sating plunge-front halter top in a glorious shade of apple red. The two-tone coloring adds to the complexity of this piece and helps too make it a bit softer on the eyes, which works well. Her second look is a lace-and-satin mélange of an LBD. It has the cap-sleeve design which I always adore and I’m a huge fan of how this pieced look comes off unexpected and fresh. Her final look is an all-over sequin romper in a gorgeous shade of electric blue. This look benefits from the buoyant pairing with a hot pink lip. I’m also digging Barbie’s blowout and soft waves in these snaps!
I’m really am dang grateful for Instagram! With Impact’s photography kinda on the fritz, it’s one of the few ways we get to keep up with the style of those ladies over there. And they have style we wouldn’t want to miss!
Maria wore an LBD to a recent Impact event and it is anything but basic. I love the way the satin is pieced in strips; it gives the dress such a cool, almost distressed-glam quality, which is heightened by the sequins peeking through underneath. She chose to complete it with a platform pump, done in a very right now color: nude. The color choice and pairing is a great way to keep these shoes current. I also could envision going with a brash, punk-influenced black leather ankle boot here (thinking these, but could see a hybrid like these too) for a bit of a rebellious glitter. And then Maria chopping her hair and bleaching it. No, just kidding! :) The other thing I could love here is a choker. We also got a rare look at some actual (as in non-gym :)) style from Michelle McCool. She was on vacation in St. Thomas, wearing this pretty navy halter dress, with a chic midi length. Nude lace-up sandals finished the look, which she spiked with statement earrings – always a trademark look of hers – and oversize sunglasses. It’s so great to see her style again! *Brie has a moment* *sighs and moves on* The multi-braids are a new thing of Michelle’s and I’m loving the low bun styling – also something new for her! Summer, like the Bellas, has been all over magazines lately. This shot is from her recent spread in Nationalist. Her white crochet-embellished set is from Australian brand Sabo. She accented the look with a gold fringed bangle – so pretty! – and added a cranberry lip for an extra punch. I’m not 100% sure how I feel about the cranberry; it might be a bit of a strong contrast with the floaty loveliness of the rest of her ensemble. What do you think? This two-tone dress worn by Charlotte is the Desra by Alice and Olivia (available at Nordstrom ). It combines a white lace top with a black crepe skirt in a single piece. I absolutely LOVE this dress on Charlotte. It’s flawless example of dressing perfectly for your body type. The top-half/bottom-half design defines the waist, while the a-line style skirt creates visual curves. If, like Char, you’re a straighter shape, take note – this is the kind of styling you want in your “Inspirations” file. Char completed the outfit with black minimalist sandals, which look incredibly chic! This look is absolutely spot on and slays every way. Brava, Charlotte! With wearing gold being in the headlines every day due to the Rio Olympics, I thought it would be fun to take a look at how gold fits into a wardrobe ...even when one isn't able to pull off a full-in-double-back and stick it ;). The ladies of WWE and TNA have definitely managed to find some use for it! And why not? Gold conveys so much: luxury, glamour, fierceness, boldness. It's metallic shimmer enhances nealry any combination, but it's powerful enough in it's own right to provide the statement for an otherwise simple look. Barbie's shining monokini would definitely catch some eyes at the beach, but it's her pointy-toe pumps that win big with me! Shoes are one of my favorite ways to do metallic; they act as a neutral that's not black, bringing brightness and a touch of glam to any outfit. They're easy to blend as well: coordinate with your jewelry, or the color tone of the outfit. Sasha's statement dress is a flawless choice for cocktail hour. The gold really enlivens the black bodice and classic silhouette. Since weddings have been front and center around here lately, if you're wondering about this piece: yes, it could be worn to a night semi-formal or black-tie optional event ...I'd suggest going for a statement necklace that doesn't say "BOSS", though ;). Eva's metallic gold pants really spiked her crop top+skinnies pairing and would be a fab option for a night at the bar. I'm also a fan of her gold-accented sandals; the metallic bar is looking like it's a thing right now and the fierce flash it creates makes a strappy sandal like this super-versatile. Michelle let her glam shine with this sequined tank top. A sequined piece or two is always a good thing for a girl to have in her wardrobe for adding formality to everything from denim to pencil skirts. I especially love how Michelle paired this top with pearl accents - the creamy shimmer plays well against the bright sparkle of the gold. Barbie also showed her love for gold with this elegant metallic embroidered dress. Gold goes through various iterations from the bold, over-the-top sheen of lame to subtler usages, such as this. If you're building a wardrobe, stay with something along these lines - artisanal elegance will remain chic and current long after many envelope-pushing trends have faded. Eve went for the gold in this lace-up-detailed bikini and rocked it - proof that gold works as well in two pieces as in one. If you're mixing solid gold separates in real life, you can soften the blaze of the metallic by topping them with a neutral blazer or cardigan. Conversely, you can bring massive sparks to an all-neutral look by topping them with a gold coat, a la Maryse. It's amazing how many shades can be enhanced by gold: black, navy, red, burgundy, ivory, white, almond and khaki can all handle a shot of golden glimmer quite nicely. If a true "glimmer" is all you're craving, try doing gold Brooke's way: with delicate jewelry. Consider a body chain with right outfit (generally simple canvases that let the detail of the chain stand out), or multiple, layered slim necklaces. Lana proves that gold isn't just for pumps: metallic sandals are definite requirements for summer, and all-season dressy events. Pair them with a gown, pair them with destroyed denim..or get crazy and pair them with a strappy, bandage monokini as you lounge poolside at a five-star resort, sipping champagne and plotting which corner of the universe you're going to take over next :). In many cases, raw, gorgeous gold is best done in controlled brush strokes, rather than with a paint roller, but sometimes, letting your gold flag fly is better yet! Maria always leans toward making a yuuuge statement, so her choice of a full-on sequined mini dress is just what we'd expect from her fashionable Ladyship. Proms, holiday and late night parties and being leader of the KO's division all lend themselves to unadulterated glamour. Then again, maybe you want to play up gold's luxury in your look. For that, take a tip from Taryn and pair it with rich, seductive fur - a vest for spring and fall or a coat for winter. If you're feeling like a rock star, keep following Taryn's lead and add a black fringe necklace or dark, grunge-y hematite pieces and a pair of OTK boots. If you're feeling more "heiress", go for a crystal jewelry and classic sandals. Either way, show some Olympic spirit and go for gold in your fashion!
Sometimes, you just run headlong into a fashion look that puts a smile right smack dab onto your face. This look from Alicia was one of those! Oh my gaganess – do you completely LOVE her? She took this sparkling, tulle-embellished dress with its hint of a roaring 20’s vibe and smashed it straight into today with a cutouff Lakers tee and a baseball cap. It’s Foxy at her marvelous, zany, fabulous best! Why does this work? First, the color ties it all together. Second, note how Foxy’s played perfectly with the silhouette, designing the tee to land at a high-waist level, creating shape visually. Finally, it’s about panache and attitude, something girlfriend’s got in spades. She finishes the look by bringing back the vintage vibe with fab t-strap heels. I live for when Foxy does looks like this! The juxtaposition of elements is brave and unique..and, even better than that, it’s looks ahhhhmazing! This is STYLE.
Equally stylish, but with a very different look is Michelle McCool’s periwinkle lace bodycon dress. This is such an unusual color and to see it done in lace is more unusual still! True to her fashion sensibilities, Michelle skips the standard black pump and finishes this look with caramel lace-up booties. It’s gives a fierce-boho twist to a chic and summery dress and makes the look less formal. In keeping with that, I’d have loved to see her go with a softer, less austere hairstyle. But I can deal with the bun :-) Brie did it my way and used a half up-do with this super-cute print dress. I don’t generally gravitate toward whimsical prints, but there are a couple factors that change my opinion regarding this dress. First, the grapefruit shade of the base color is just beautiful! Second, I love the wide-strap+square-neck silhouette – it’s chic and flatters many body types. Third, in this low-key cotton fabric and with the flared shape, it has a sweet girl-next-door vibe that’s just perfect for summer. I’m also a fan of these cross-strap heels; they’re just made to be paired with dresses like this..and flared skirts! Lastly –and this has nothing to do with the dress J - this image is fantastic : Brie and her style really pop when set against the black couch, and the wing art in the background adds softness and depth. Nikki gave us some ultra laidback looks during her visit to Las Vegas earlier this month. In the first, she paired a simple nude tank with cutoff denim shorts…and then glammed it up with a crystal statement necklace (LOVE that piece!). I’m a little on the fence about this combo; there might be too much stylistic distance in terms of formality between the necklace and the rest of the look for my taste. If these were distressed full-length or cropped jeans, I would completely be on board, though. Shoe choice makes a big difference to this look as well. These chunky white sandals are a funky hybrid between a sandal and a sneaker. A more minimalistic block heel would have been equally comfortable and might harmonized the outfit a bit more. The way her next look comes together demo’s the point. She swaps the sandals for broken-in tie ankle boots and jettisons the necklace, but she keeps the sexy comin’ on strong with this lace-up bodysuit and black frayed shorts. The combination of these pieces is flawless: they’re all casual and united by the color, but there’s plenty of detail and textural contrast that make this styling oh so hot! |
