Divas doing denim are everywhere lately, it seems! While it's a classic fabric by now, denim goes through phases of what's hot and the blues are the current rage. A wide range of pieces are trending, including some really fun and unusual shapes, such as Renee's denim romper or Brooke's workman-like overalls. Brie's pantsuit is a killer silhouette as well, especially styled with her famous boho flair. Shopbop has a fantastic assortment of really cool, special denim pieces right now, so head over there if you're looking to add a statement-maker to your wardrobe. You can also get the essence of the divas' looks with pieces that are already in your closet. I love the idea of recreating Brie's pantsuit by pairing a denim buttondown with bootcut jeans. Mix two different -but coordinating- denim blues, such a dark wash top and light wash bottoms. Carry the boho vibe with a tie belt in leather or suede. You can use a scarf as well: think bandana print or a frayed-edge solid in any earthy brown hue. Gladiator flats finish this look with casual cool. Alternatively, try embracing the 70's trend via denim by pairing a classic workshirt with wide leg flares. Again, choose two different washes to bring more visual interest. Finish the styling with structured shoes - think chunky-heeled sandals or platform ankle straps- and an earth-goddess-esque necklace (feathers, tassels, or a pile of dusty-hued beads). Or, you can do things Brooke's way and match your denim blush tones. I've imagined this done with an 80's flair, using skinny jeans and a denim tunic. Work the blush via your accents: rose gold earrings, a printed scarf or pale pink belt and soft pink pointy toes - flats or heels. On the flip side, neon pink was an 80's color du jour, so if you're into the brights, indulge in them! This look would work just was well with an intense color for shoes and/or scarf. For the latter, choose a multi-hued piece to look modern, not matchy. Are you dreaming in denim yet? :)

Black and dresses seem to be the current theme for early March. We get o see a bit of fashion from Rosa, which is awesome because we haven't gotten nearly as much lately as I'd love to see :). This simple, black empire-waist dress is cute and classic. What I love best about it is that it's maternity-appropriate, without coming off like maternity-wear. It says "I can be pregnant and clasy too - at the same time!". She injects a bit of attitude by finishing the look with OTK boots, a pairing I love. Next up on the dress front is Eden, who reigned over tv in this metallic-accented bodycon dress. The combination of khaki with gold is gorgeous. She finished the look with nude almond-toed platform pumps for an all-neutral ensemble. Charlotte represents the black portion of our theme and gets serious props from me for this motorcycle-style capelet. It's a daring and unusual piece and I'm super jazzed that she went for this look! The plain black canvas below, of tank top and jeans, let the topper have all the focus, which was brilliant. I get so lit when ladies take style risks! Love it! Nikki delved into her new passion for tea while wearing this fit-and-flare dress, embellished with sheer insets that create a striped effect. This standout dress walks a wonderful line between stylishness and sexiness, pairing the modern, raw striping wth the flirty femininity of the sheer fabric. Nikki's polka dot shoes are one of my favorite aspects of the ensemble; they bring playfulness to the styling. Brooke's latest offering is an off-duty-model-worthy pairin of leggings with a tee and classic leather jacket. Her metallic pointy-toe pumps elevate this look to a fabulous casual cool. #HowItsDone101, Fiercettes!
Brooke has been slaying fashion lately! Her latest is this fabulous combination of (ttly on-trend) blush pink girly-ness with a dash of hippie vibes, courtesy of her tribal-print scarf tied as a head band. Notice how her scarf coordinates without matching? Love that! You can do this look with almost any pale pink knit piece you own: a thermal top, a tunic, a slouchy sweater. If you're not a pink girl, you can capture the same feel with warm ivory or soft camel. Light wash flared leg jeans are the perfect accompaniment, giving that bohemian, 70's feel to the look. If you haven't invested in wide leg denim, yet, dig out a pair of bootcut ones. They'll create a similar look. Khaki boyfriend-style chinos are another option. After pastel color, accessories are the next most important key with this outfit. You'll need a scarf that has a free-spirited leaning. A strong-hued tribal print like Brooke's or a solid with a tasseled edge would work. You can also go with a floral (try something with stylized graphic flowers) or tie-dye. Stay with tonal shades (blush, warm rose, peach, baked clay) or earthy contrasts (caramel, chocolate, turquoise, aqua, sage, dusty blue). Do the Brooke thing and knot it around your forehead, go with a loose knot at your waist or just drape it around your neck. Stay with warm neutrals for shoes -nude, peach-pink, or caramel. An ankle boot is fabulous, as are platform sandals. Finish with a bevy of your favorite band rings, interspersed high and low on several fingers. Ready to feel like a wild wanderer (with a killer sense of style, of course)? Then, go for it :) Happy styling!
If you are ready for spring stat..like yesterday kind of stat, then 1) I'm with ya and 2) indulge your springiness by enjoying Brooke's latest outfit: a cute white cop top, paired with a navy floral pleated mini skirt. There's nothing like florals and spring as a combo. They go together like a hand in a glove, ice cream and apple pie, red soles and Louboutin. Navy and white is also a classic combo - a bit warmer and more nautical (an important trend atm) than the classic black and white. And, like black, it matches pretty much everything. Brooke finishes her look with luggage-colored leather sandals. Shades of brown leather go through fashion phases and this color is presently having its moment. It has an earthy, bohemian vibe that works brilliantly with a number of looks from casual to classic, including a crop-top and printed mini pairing like this one :)
Eden is getting her sparkle on during these gray days. First, there's a simple sheath, made uber-dramatic by the deep, wide V-neck silhouette. This is a trademark Eden look: never fussy, but special! She completes it with pretty bow sandals for a feminine feel. She cranks up the fierce for the next glittering piece: a gorgeous sheath be-sequined in an ombre pattern. Because of the multitude of colors, the simple silhouette - no cutouts or plunge neckline- works to balance the look. Eden wisely let's the dress take center stage, finishing the ensemble with minimal nude platforms. #HowItsDone101 If you've been missing your Maryse lately, miss no more! We are getting to enjoy two looks this FH from the Sexiest of The Sexy courtesy of her birthday on Jan 21st. As usual, she makes them about as different as can be. The first is a boho-tinged empire waist dress in a light airy fabric, perfect for warm spring (there's that word again :) )days! This dress is sweetly seductive with it's can't-miss-it plunge scoopneck. In classic Maryse-style, she completes it with statement jewelry - a glamorous crystal collar- and highlight-reel shoes: gold triple-strap sandals from Giuseppe Zanotti. She goes from color-less to full-on color and mini to maxi in this stunning blue cross-front dress with a delicate tie at the waist. The hue is superb and the flowy fabric makes this gown an eye-catcher! Again, statement jewelry brings impact to her look. No one does go-bold-or-go-home jewelry beter than Maryse! Props to her for two beauuuuuutiful braided hairstyles - a look we don't see explored nearly often enough!- and s/o to the Miz for the photobomb :) We also get an unusual and quirky look from Brie - a very simple A-line dress, paired with lace tights and... boots! This is a combo I probably wouldn't think to combine, but I like how the smooth satin and leather and textural lace play against each other. This is a classic example of how a riskier look can be held together by the use of black. Where a mix of colors could make this look like a hot mess, the sophistication of black elevates it considerably. If you're as in love with Brooke's HOT strappy sandals as we are, you're in luck...they're available here in a whole host of colors. So, do it Brooke's way, with a white dress, or do it your way ;) Giving you a designer feel without making your wallet holler is what Steve Madden does best, so def check out the brand when you're in the market for that kind of thing. I've also mentioned before that I'm a fan of the Freebird line - also worth a look for laidback boot styles. Edit: these may also be the Schutz Juliana Caged sandal, available here. Schutz is a fabulous brand spearheaded by designer Alexandre Birman, who has an eponymous shoe line as well. Gotta lotta fashion to talk re:, so...let's talk :)
This look from Brie is completely aaaaahhmazing! I'm not normally a fan of the see-through look, mainly because it's often a bra that we're seeing through the whatever and it's tough to make that look classy. However, Brie sidesteps that whole fashion trap by going with the crop top part of a coord set underneath and that makes all the difference! It adds functional warmth to the coord set and looks sleek, fierce and holiday ready. The nubbly texture of her sweater (by Free People, a brand Brie has been favoring lately and one of my personal faves) above the whte makes me think of snow, and that's accentuated by her fuzzy gray scarf. Her polished bun is a flawless way to finish off this fabulous look, which just might be my fav of this FH set. We haven't gotten to see much of Bayley's style, other than her wild n' wooly ring gear, but this causal look absolutely rocks! She's matched a classic-trendy flannel with wine jeans, knee-high black boots and a gray peacoat. It's a fantastic blend of textures, and colors, looking pulled together without being matchy-matchy. Smashing casual looks are always fun and not easy to elevate from "I couldn't care less" to "fashionista", so hopefully, we'll get to see more like this from Bay! Let's get to some December fashion, shall we? :) But before we do that, let's catch a November look that I , well, overlooked :) during my last FashionHap...oopsie.
This outfit from Eden (more info about it - and excellent thought-provoking posts- on her blog BeingBrandiRunnels.com. Scroll down to her Black Friday post for this look) is completely fab. It has that immediate attention-grabbing (and holiday-approved!) shot of red, done in a unique squared-neck top. She pairs it with leather leggings and finishes off with my favorite part: leopard-print heels. And that's odd for me because I'm not usually a fan of leopard (Note: Brandi has a whole post about how leopard gets a bad rap), but when it's done tastefully and not in excess, as Eden's done here, it can be incredibly chic! The warmth of the print complements the red flawlessly. This is very simply a stellar, steal-worthy casual look that would translate wonderfully well as a holiday party outfit. Quick PS: Eden finally has her own show on WWE Network: Eden's Style. How cool is that?! Again, see her blog for more info. While we're on the subject of red and black, check out this fabulous schoolgirl-inspired outfit from Brooke. She's paired a houndstooth crop top with a black pencil skirt. There's something about houndstooth that's irrevocably British prep and Brooke plays on that look with her glasses and tailored skirt. Then she adds a bright spark with these killer strappy heels...tres fierce! And, of course, fierceness takes us to Alicia aka Foxy Fierce and this all-black ensemble. This leather skirt is a super-cute crush of tough leather and feminine leaf-like layered pieces which create a lot of volume for a leather skirt. Usually leather is smooth and pristine, but this is flirty and fierce! She accentuates the couture feel of this look with her craveworthy chain-and-ribbon necklace (see below), which nods at Chanel's style. Her black scoopneck halter top adds a dash of sexy to this fun and fancy outfit. |
