Oo oo oo...if you're looking to add a jumpsuit to your wardrobe, check out this gorgeous one I loved in the Mid-Jan Pt 1 FashionHap, worn by Brie Bella. It's available here...AND it's even on sale! Woot woot. If you're a stain magnet, like me, FP even offers a beautiful deep merlot shade for you to play with. Pair it with gray pumps, maybe a cute cropped (faux fur :D) jacket for chilly days and smash: slayage!

Periodically, I have myself a nice little Bellafest around here and this is another one of those times. Never fear - there are plenty of other ladies and fab fashion to get to as well, but I'm kicking things off Bella style :). Brie and Nikki were recently on Good Morning America, showing off their stellat fashion sense. Brie wore this 70's-turned-now flowy, snowy pantsuit from Free People. I love the long, graceful lines of this piece - it's seriously chic! And, how easy does it make getting dressed in the morning? One and done :)...guess the LBD has a little competition. Brie finished off her monochromatic look with white pointy-toe pumps. Nikki went for a flowy look as well, with these wide-leg pants. The wide-leg style is wonderfully sophisticated, as long as the pant are well-tailored; you're looking for pieces that define the waist and hips and then soar outward from there. Nikki's pair is a great example. She matches this high-waisted style with a cropped, ribbed turtleneck. I'm very much on board with her choice of gray - it adds more dimension color-wise to the black, but still elevates the look by being cool and polished. She completes the style in one of my favorite ways (as discussed here :)): a bright pop of color! The classic red really makes this styling special.
I'm a big, huge, massive fan of the ladies' dressing up and bringing the formality, but tat doesn't mean I'm not equally jazzed when the rock the Helsinki out of a casual ensemble. Brie's wordy 'Scorpio' tee has a high-fashion-gone-downtown feel, and it works brilliantly when paired with space-wash gray denim. Suede OTK boots make the perfect textural finish to this casual-met-fierce-and-poof-lovechild look. Also noteworthy is the way her stunning, glam rose-tinged yes and lips and warm this whole outfit and, again, bring the casual up a level. One thing that really popped out about Charlotte's look in this shoot was her sophisticated use of color: blended blues, neutral denim, pops of purple and olive. Even though this outfit is casual, it still tells an intricate and creative color story. Casual does not have to mean looking like a closetless bum, Fiercers and Fiercettes! While I'm digging her olive duck boots hard, I realize not everybody has a pair of green boots hanging in their closet, so I tried to metamorphosize this palette into something more easily accessible. Or rather, two somethings because..fashion! The first is a riff on Char's look. This involves pairing distressed boyfriend-style denim with a classic sky blue or blue teal tee and tossing a flannel shirt over the top. This lovely flannel is from Madewell and may be exactly what Charlotte styled her look with (I'll update if I can confirm). (PS Madewell is rocking the flannel this year). The look gets finished off with hiking boots in a warm neutral and - this is where the olive comes in- a fringed scarf. A smattering of beads (this set is from Zappos) in neutrals and more olive (that olive shade is the key) ties the whole ensemble together. Look number two is more of a Paige-esque pairing: the denim gets switched up for slim olive chinos (or cargo pants). Instead of highlighting the green shade, the lilac scarf pulls out the purple tones of the flannel. If you're going that way, stay with a grayer shoe - a fierce ankle bootie or pointy toe pump - to keep the cool-colors theme. Alternatively, the whole look could be warmed up by a soft caramel scarf, matched with a neutral shoe in any warm tone from creamed coffee to deep chocolate. This is one of the reasons I love flannel: it's not only warm, it allows you to mix unusual brews of color for very chic and unique looks. You could do either of these ensembles with any flannel you own; just pull out one color and one neutral from the shades in the shirt and go from there :). Happy styling! #WorkTheFlannel :)
It's been really tough to catch up with Impact 'shoots lately. They've done - quite frankly - a lousy job of making shoots easy to find and cohesive. As a result, we're getting bits and fits and starts of things. Come on, Impact: get it together already!
Suddenly popping up on the radar are these shots form the baseball shoot done last fall. We get a simple, sporty ensemble from Jade: a zip front, color-block sports bra paired with plain black shorts. I like this combo; the simplicity packs a punch. I don't mind her chunky combat boots, but I'd have looooved if she kicked the fierce up with slim-heeled booties (like these). Marti also rocks this athletic look with a black and white halter-style top and black hip-huggers. I really like the pairing of her over-the-knee socks and sneakers; it's cute and mod at the same time! She also gets props for the swinging-the-bat pose! It's fab...and I think she's the only lady to do it, at least based on what we've seen so far. Rebel also chose the over-the-knee sock look, going with a sheer-striped pair and matching them with platform heels. She completely works the flirty, flippy mini skirt and pairing it with an open-weave mesh top is one of my favorite combos of this set! It looks really fresh and trendy. Swap the platforms for leather ankle booties and add an oversized denim jacket and this look would be channeling iconic 80's Madonna...very cool! We already got a glimpse of Velvet's outfit, but here we get to see more, like all her tied skull scarves, the full effect of her fishnets...and the fact that she didn't forget her trademark pop of pink ;). Her crystal neon rose platforms are straight outta TBP. As usual, she nails the pose! I don't think an KO out there is as consistent with smashing poses as Vel. #ItsAnArt No, I'm not running for President :)....but I would like to know what turns you on around here, so I have two questions to throw at ya: The Over River and Through Woods 'shoot had a bunch of amazing looks, including this one from Lana. The je ne se quoi factor here comes from the interplay between busy-as-a-bee intarsia knit and a smooth, sleek pencil skirt in a cool neutral. Deep reds, ranging from barn red to mulberry, are really gorgeous paired with gray. The contrast between the burning red and the chilled, steely shades is really beautiful. This could also be done with a number of jewel tones, including amethyst, saffron, even pumpkin. So, if you have one of those wildly printed sweaters buried somewhere in your closet, dig it out! :) Another option would be to use a chunky knit sweater in a solid color and layer a printed tee under it. That's a perfect way to tweak this look for super-cold days where you don't want to be exposing a lot of skin to the elements...ya know - for those of us who have to leave our cozy cabin now and again for petty things like work, school and shopping...maybe even a date :). The pencil skirt shape really elevates this look. You could go with either a mini or a midi length, depending on your preference. Lana finished her look off with oh-so-on-the-trend-radar mules, but polished casual ankle boots - think chunky heel done in leather or suede - would work just as well. Hope this inspires you! XOs
No winter doldrums here; it's all about fashion and having fun with textures we can't play with all summer long :). I loved this look from Naomi as soon as I saw it! The contrasting neutrals and themes made it pop right off the screen. Since sweater dresses are the new thing, I re-imagined her gray sheath as a textured knit and skipped the sparkle for a more-winter-less holiday-ish feel. Warm-toned hiking boots -with a bit of knit showing, or a shearling lining, or even some scrunched socks :) - bring in the contrasting neutral that's so attractive. An intarsia hat helps pull everything together by uniting several brown and gray tones. The touch of burgundy even functions as a variation on the burnished oak color. Since this look is more casual than Naomi's, I played up the boho feel by adding a wood and bead pendant. A feathered necklace, a dream-catcher pendant, beads-and-brass...any of that would be perfect! It's all about keeping a laidback, free-spirit feel, against the strong presence of the cabled knit. Using a dress is the only touch of formality and it's the cornerstone for the artistic tension of the look. Maybe today is a good day to play with a sweater dress :) Happy styling!
